This is my second DJI drone I've owned and I must say it is much easier to fly than the original Phantom I had a couple years ago. It flies much more stable and the FPV feature is very nice to have in multiple ways. I was on the fence on whether I wanted to spring the extra $250 for the 4K version or just settle for the 1080P model. In the end I chose the Professional 4K version so I could appreciate the 4K videos on my Samsung 4K TV. I haven't had too many chances to fly my new toy but that will change in time. I also purchased the Seahorse rugged case to safely store and transport my new toy and it looks and functions great!

If you are inexperienced with drones (as I was) and you are wondering "yeah, but can I figure this thing out and make it work and get some cool photos?" the answer is yes. Initial set up takes a little work with assembly and downloading the smartphone app, and getting set up (they have fantastic videos that help a ton), but once you get going, it is simply amazing what you can do.

Despite the name, these are not truly "professional" cameras - think of them as a top-of-the-line GoPro (but without the really wide angle view) on a aerial tripod. The footage is great for your enjoyment and for real estate or light commercial/industrial work but certainly not up to the level of real pro video or still cameras.

Once I got everything hooked up and went through the 1 hour plus firmware upgrade for the copter, remote and battery, I was ready to fly. The DJI Pilot app starts the compass calibration and shows you what to do on the screen. Took about 30 seconds. GPS connects very quickly. I was up in the air quick. The First Person on the Pilot app is really cool. The map feature works really well too. You can see all of the flight data such as battery level, transmission signal, remote signal and a bunch of other stuff. The remote works really good to move the camera as well as start and stop video and take snapshots. It also records flight data for later review, tells you condition of battery and so much more.

The DJI Phantom 3 is a major step forward! To date, I’ve owned and have flown DJI Phantom 1.1.1, DJI Phantom 2 Vision+, DJI Phantom 2, Parrot Bebop and Parrot Bebop with Skycontroller. To date, the DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus has been my favorite drone(despite not having 4K video). I loved how integrated everything was and the DJI Phantom 3 is the logical next step forward from the DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus! The DJI Phantom 3 Professional has a 4K camera and the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced has a 1080P HD camera(it’s 1080P 60FPS though and P2V+ was only 1080P 30FPS). The amount of features included with the DJI Phantom 3 are mind-blowing! Light Bridge is included and Light Bridge alone makes the DJI Phantom 3 purchase worth the money in my opinion.

Get it! You'll love it. I've had multiple drones before the Phantom 3. This one takes the headache out of flying. The app is seamless with the drone and controller so you plug in, wait for it to warm up and go. I've been flying every morning since I received it. The app is great. Same app that the inspire uses but updated for the Phantom 3. It even comes with a flight simulator so you can practice flying while sitting in your living room. After the first flight I sold my Phantom 2. There's no reason to fly with that one anymore. I chose to get the Professional instead of the Advanced because I run a production company (FitLife Productions) and we use the 4K footage for our shoots. The quality is awesome and you can get some really good looking shots. If you're in the market for a DJI drone then this is the one!

First off, I have never flown a drone before getting this last night. After unboxing and charging the battery, I watched their tutorial videos which took about a half hour. These were really good but I was slightly impatient and didn't actually finish the "how to fly video" before going outside and turning it on. I was able to fly it around a bit but then realized that I didn't know how to land it because I forgot to watch the end of the video. Fortunately, they have a go to home button so I pushed that and it went back to it's starting location and landed. I then watched the rest of the video to figure out how to make it land correctly without the button. The next day, I took it to my kids swimming meet and shot a video there. I had no problems at all and most people thought I was a pro. The footage is awesome and I really am happy with it. I attached a shot from my swimming meet so you can see.
